A Visual Success
These pictures were taken at El Museo Del Barrio during the celebration for the "Day of the Dead"(Dia DE Los Muertos) a 3000 yr. old Mexican tradition. This holiday was created to celebrate the continuity of life with a tribute to the past aways of friend and family. Its a party so of course they had to show the people crowding the place. Also a picture of the food which is what GP is all about serving food to satisfaction. Then they had a picture of the floral design that took place, and last whats a party to celebrate the dead without face paintings. All these pictures correlate with what the party is really about.

A Visual Mistake
This was a online ad to remind the reader that although this is down times in the economy you can help lighten the weight/stress for everyone around you by throwing a party for the holidays, and we are the company that can work with your needs to make it all happen to keep the holiday spirits alive.
To me this didn't seem like a successful visual message because I believe that when introducing information in a ad, its like introducing one person to another, the most important thing someone wants to know before getting informed is who is speaking. In this ad instead of announcing who they are from the beginning they chose the type or strategy with a attractive header to keep the reader reading first then leading them to more info, to who they are, etc.

For this non-profitable occasion GP will be serving the food while over 300 Goldman Sac employees have already signed up to volunteer to take out the trash at the end of the night. In the picture is the sampling of the food by GP celebrity Chef and employees for this holiday event.

Letter of Recommendation
Dear Whom it may Concern:
For whom is tired of low bank interest rates and the sharp drop in the dollar value during the past years. You may want to consider investing at a time like this. Yes you can put your money in a mutual fund but its so diversified its return value is probably not that much different from leaving it where you have it now.But since we starting to see the rebounding from recession i suggest stocks. One stock I recommend is Dry Ships "DRYS" its a international commodity shipping company. It's been around for a long time and now we all know China's economy is shooting upward.Demand for raw materials is on the raise so right now is a good time to put your money is this stock for long term investment until the U.S. economy stands back on its foot.
Memo of Congratulations to DryShips
Congratulations on your last quarter earning profits and upgrade ratings by analyst. As a part of this company i wish for the best to this company and for it to continue moving positively forward.
This is just a letter of congratulations to let the company know we the staff at Dry Ships care and appreciate that our good work is being recognize by its upgrades in earnings in profits.

Type of Visual Communication
Dry Ships is a company that is very low-keyed in public advertising.Their business is based on word-of-mouth. Presentations and reports are tailored for each client specifically depending on their needs and budget. They do more of a 1 client per business team per each meeting. So i think the company is more suitable for a PowerPoint presentation that is very detailed and supported with charts.
Visual Evolution and DryShips
Well, visual communication has evolved tremendously over the years from information blown up on poster boards to todays PowerPoint presentation program projected on a screen. This major change in technology over time has made it a lot easier to post up information for a presentation, everything is now just a click away. You can find information and just copy and paste instead of having to double the work by copying everything word for word as back in the day.For example Dry ships has recently released its third quarter earning report. For the people that couldn't make it to the actual conference call, a live web cast will be broadcast over the Internet. All that has to be done is a simple 1,2,3, step register 10 minutes prior to the conference. This advancement in the world of visual technology has made this possible to help cater to the schedules of clients that is very busy but is interested in the company.

The Pursuaders
From watching The Persuaders, the approach I believe Dry ships used most often in their corporate announcements and messages is " Giving Us What We Want".Basically since i did a lot of background relationship on Dry ships i know that they owe a tremendous amount of money to bank creditors out there. But a lot of people out there may not no much about their background/desperate financial situations. Most the time when i read the news/messages of the company they tend to always show more of the up side(positives)than down sides of the companies.Like they would have a announcement every 2 weeks or so about how the company is doing better than the previous year the same quarter but the are comparing it to a quarter where the recession just took place, so of course they are doing better now.For example it's like comparing a student with a @1.8 GPA telling his parents hes doing better than his friend that has a 1.3 GPA.Although he may be doing better than his friend but the GPA as a whole 1.9 out of 4.0 is still relatively non-passing. It's just ways companies verbalized their messages in to not lying about the truth just sort of more hidden of twisting the message to be more comfortable to the reader or listener.
Planning Reports And Proposals
It's almost 2 weeks since Dry Ships announced the released of its 3rd quarter and nine months earnings.Well, it's finally here, today they comfortably announced that they beat Wall street expectations, due to increasing business and raising of charters and shipping rates. After the prolong recession took placed they announced that dry bulk rates have become more stabilized. They announced most of their fleet(about 77%) will be done being fixed by the beginning of 2011.With all this information given out, tomorrow on the Oct 27,2009 they are holding a conference meeting to discuss all this information, and also what steps the company is taking to better the company and to help maximize their returns in profit.

SC Johson "A Family Company"
Hi, my name is Hugh Chan and I'm part of the group developing a case study on one of your current product lines"Scrubbing Bubbles".I'm applying your responses to prof. Evans to what I'm learning in class. As a semester project I have created a business blog, and now SC Johnson will take a major role in it.I'm pleased to hear your responses to prof.Evans because I'm looking forward to see what steps of service will a major company like SC Johnson take to create a satisfying resolution for it's consumers.
Current Status of Slide Presentation
So far I decided the purpose of the presentation and 4 slides that follows it.The purpose of the presentation is to seek current bank creditors of our company to work out a contract waiver for our company's loans. At the same time we are also seeking new investors to loan us money to move our company toward its future goals. I'm going to start off slide 1 with what the company is.Then followed by the overview of the company(slide 2),the board and management team of our company(slide 3) to our current fleet(slide 4).

Ups and Downs For strockholders of "DRYS"
Hey everyone, the chances are if you held stocks through last week you took a major hit with all the bad news that took place in the economy that caused the market to sink all week long.Oil fell under 70 dollars, unemployment raised, bad company news such as cit they may face near bankruptcy again, drop in housing sales, etc.Well if you had "DRYS" it fell about 1 dollar, but so far this week although with the "DOW" bouncing back up Monday and today of 100+ points the stock is already at $6.55 at 12:59pm discarding how financial analysts analysis it as a bad stock. With today's recession still going on China doesn't export as much as it used to, so the shipping industry is sort of overcrowded.Too many ships but not enough imports/exports to fill the ships up.i think that if "DRYS" can stay stable for about 2 years by then the economy should start to be back on its track.Global market will be back on its feet, and with DRYS as the head of the shipping industry its profit will skyrocket within the following years, so keep hope in your eyes.

Communicating in Teams and Mastering Listening and Nonverbal Communication Skills
Communicating in teams to work toward a common goal can help improve performance.Dry ships Inc understands that, they have a very diversified management board and committee with 1 Chairman,1 COO, and over 6 board directors. This team all comes together for 1 common purpose, for the profit and the well being of the company and its shareholders.Working in a team can lead to a lot of conflict because of different points of views, but it does have a benefit of helping gather individual resources to help the process of decision making.Just as this blog, i don't only write to express my own opinions but i opened to listen to others comments, that's what a blog is really for,to gather points of views of different people from all around the world to be debated.
Finding, Evaluating, and Processing Information
Not long ago, maybe just 5-6 decades back before computers were invented, to gain hold of information, one might have to ask another, or simply go to a library and look up what they need to know.Nowadays with technology already taken over most of the world, seeking any source of information can be as easy as a click of a button.Just like Dry ships Inc. i only heard from a friend before i invested in this company. Before hearing about it from a friend i never heard of it and knew nothing about it. So of course before you make any investment you got to research it to see if its going to be a profitable investment. So all i did was go on my computer went on financial sites such as yahoo.finance.com,cnnmoney.com,cnbc.com, and many more just to look up the company's general and background information. Also you can use many famous search engines such as yahoo.com or google.com to look up anything.I typed in the company "DRYS" in google and there was over thousands of links about the company from where it began to where its company plans to go for the future. Most the information found online are secondary research because before you, the chances are someone already came up with the the same or similar question seeking a answer. The problem with secondary research is that how much of it is really true?some may be actual facts, some maybe just bias opinions of the writer about a certain subject.Believe it or not is up to you that's going over their information.

Ethical Messages
In my last post I commented that this stock is a strong buy with a lot of positive feedback and background information on the company. All companies have flaws, the major flaw of this company is that 2 years ago while the nation's economic market was at its peak this company took out major loans to purchase more ships. No one knew there was gonna be sudden economic crash in the global markets. So with such bad timing it led to the big drops of the market value of this company from topping $130/share two years ago to just about $30/share last year to the current market price of about$7/share.All companies have debt but I'm encouraging the investment in this company now because its because its at its all time low where its such a risky purchase it only mean the profitability would be higher than other shipping stocks. I consider the decisions made by the companies CEO to borrow money just bad timing, now that we see that the economy is starting to slowly recover, international trading will start to move again and shipping rates and orders will go up which in my opinion is still a strong buy no matter what is on that spreadsheet.I'm not just going to look at whats on the papers now but whats more of the future.
Audience Benefits +Investment Opportunity
Yes, Lately the market for "DRYS" has been rising to hit a new price of $7.00 and up due to the rallying of continued commodity and the growing optimism in economic recovery. But its still too early to judge if the global economic and international trade is starting to bounce "back on its feet"yet.Reading this blog will benefit the reader on being more knowlegable about this company and might consider futere invesment in it.To be simple for everyonw to understand, just know that this is a international shipping company that holds more than 30% of the baltic index shipping rates. Now China is a rising nation, they have a lot of many things people and resources. They will export huge amounts all around as soon as the global market recovers out of the recession. So for a long term invesment if you believe in the economy of the two largest nations in the world, this would be consider a strong buy.
